A Statement from COMTO National
As the voice for minorities in the transportation industry for nearly 50 years, the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) is deeply saddened and outraged by the recent events that have taken place in Minneapolis. We recognize and honor the humanity and dignity of all people and  lend our voice in support of those who have suffered any form of racial injustice and discrimination in our society. We express our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of George Floyd. We look forward to the swift carriage of justice and will continue to advocate on behalf of all minorities.Empower your voice and be heard as we discuss the pressing racial issues confronting our country at this time.
An Updated Statement from COMTO National: Charges Filed Against Minneapolis Officers
We applaud the charges that have been filed against the Minneapolis police officers involved in the tragic death of George Floyd including Derek Chauvin, Thomas Lane, J. Alexander Kueng and Tou Thao.  This is a positive first step toward imposing the long-overdue justice that was warranted for this senseless tragedy. However, the pervasiveness of racism continues to pulse through the veins of this country and it is imperative that people of color receive equal justice under the law. We thank our colleagues from across the transportation industry who have reached out and expressed concern. Our strength comes from unity and we encourage our allies to continue to be vocal and speak out against the systematic and institutional racism. We will continue to stand in solidarity with those exercising their First Amendment rights to protest this grave injustice, and others like it, across this nation and the world.
