Dr. Lester Woods Appointed First Vice Chair of the COMTO Board of Directors

The COMTO Board of Directors has appointed Dr. Lester Woods to First Vice Chair. In this role, Dr. Woods will monitor the activities of the organization’s standing committees and ensure they are consistent with COMTO’s goals and objectives. Dr. Woods will serve the remainder of former First Vice Chair Sharmyn Elliott’s term. Dr. Woods is the Chief Administrative Officer of the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) and brings to the COMTO Board a wealth of experience with a 20-plus year career dedicated to Civil Rights. He previously served as an At-Large Member of the National Board.

“Dr. Woods is a trusted advisor, counselor and friend whose leadership will be vital to helping the Board of Directors as we work together to reach the goals set out in COMTO’s strategic plan,” said Tanya Adams, Chair, COMTO Board of Directors. “I look forward to working closely with him, and appreciate him stepping up to take on the role that was left vacant by the untimely passing of former First Vice Chair Sharymn Elliott.”

“I am extremely excited to serve COMTO in this capacity. I want to thank the board for this opportunity and trusting me in this role,” said Dr. Woods. “Teamwork makes the dream work, and consequently, I look forward to working with the board, the staff, the chapters, as well as the membership to continue catapulting COMTO further into the ranks of the elite civil rights transportation organization that it already is.”
