This year COMTO San Antonio began a pilot professional development scholarship program as part of an effort to offer more tangibles to its members. Ms. Leticia Collier who is a Professional Bus Operator with VIA Metropolitan Transit was selected to attend the Professional Development Institute (PDI) which is a partnership between the National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) San Antonio Chapter and The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) College of Public Policy.

The scholarship selection is made by a team of VIA Metropolitan Transit employees who are PDI graduates. PDI is a six-month program with sessions occurring one Friday per month taking place at UTSA Downtown Campus. PDI began in 2011 and enjoyed continuous support from local public sector agencies such as City of San Antonio, Bexar County, CPS Energy, San Antonio Water System, San Antonio Housing Authority and VIA Metropolitan Transit to name a few.

COMTO San Antonio plans to offer other professional development opportunities this year. There are upcoming classes and Lunch and Learns on topics such as basic and intermediate Microsoft Suite applications, business etiquette, intro to project management, etc.
